Lexington, MS – Pursuant to the Children First Act the following report card was published on the Holmes County School District. Note that Holmes County School District is “at risk of failing” and has been placed on probation for 2009-2010.

01/18/2010 – CANCELLED – Annual Youth Rally

The Youth Rally at the Capitol on Monday, January 18, 2010 is cancelled.  There is still a water crisis in Hinds County, State Offices are still closed-there is no water or bathroom facilities inside and with 100-150 youth and adults, there are health and sanitary risks factors we considered.

On Sept. 23 Southern Echo and the MS Delta Catalyst Roundtable submitted their views to the MS State Superintendent of Education search committee on what characteristics a new State Supt. of Education ought to have to meet the most pressing needs of Mississippi public school children and the school districts in which they attend.
