Thanks for stopping by our website!
There's much to see here, so take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about us. We hope you enjoy your visit and will take a moment to drop us a line.
NJFC’s mission is to empower the citizens of Holmes County. We work to accomplish this by developing and supporting grassroots leaders, community organizers, parents, students, and members of the African American community, as well as community-based organizations in ways that ensure they have the necessary tools/skills of community organizing, advocacy, and activism to increase family engagement, build for meaningful social change, effectively impact local and state policy, family and governance structures, and build stronger/sustainable organizations and communities.
We envision an energized and engaged community where all people, young and old are valued, nurtured and supported as we work together across generations & lifestyles to build and sustain equitable and purposeful communities that ensure that environmental, political, cultural, recreational, educational, economic, and spiritual needs of its citizens are actualized and preserved.
DSC COVID + TECH COMMUNITY PARTICIPATORY ACTION RESEARCH
DSC CPAR YOUTH/STUDENT SURVEY
Founded in 2006, the Dignity in Schools Campaign (DSC) challenges the systemic problem of pushout in our nation’s schools and works to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline. As a national coalition of over 100 organizations across 28 states, DSC works to dismantle the systemic policies and practices that push low-income Black and Brown youth into the school-to-prison pipeline, including degrading school environments, inequitable distribution of resources, punitive discipline policies, school-based policing and other racially biased practices.
DSC is supporting a Community Participatory Action Research project to better understand how new technologies can exacerbate inequity in our education system and contribute to the criminalization of Black and Brown youth. In this survey, we are seeking the voices of young people.
We will share our findings and policy recommendations will all who participate sometime late summer/early fall. Also, we will draw 50 names from survey respondents to win a gift card worth $25.
All your answers will be anonymous, we so appreciate you participating in this effort. Thanks for your time and wisdom.
